Another name for OCD is "Border Collie."
For those of you not familiar with the breed, let's just say the term "high energy" was invented for the Border Collie. Now don't get me wrong. They are great dogs and I will never be without one. But they always, always, ALWAYS need a job to do. If you don't give them one, they freelance.
Even though Moose's job is sheep, he has decided to moonlight. Every night, he gets to run at a local park -- a local park that, earlier in the evening, is home to many little league baseball games. Moose thinks his night job is to go into the woods and look for foul balls.

What's the harm, you might ask. So the dog looks for baseballs. Big deal. Lots of dogs find balls in the park.
But remember, Moose has OCD. One ball is not enough.

His second night out, he found another. Now he has two.

We're collecting them and will give them back to the city league at the end of the season. Or maybe we'll save them and "seed" the woods this winter so Moose can continue to find them. Sort of like an easter egg hunt for dogs.
I think he'd like that.

Soooo, that's where all the foul balls go! Years of watching Little League games (and searching for the fouls) always left me pondering that mystery. . .perhaps I will visit the farm (and Moose) if I get to feeling nostalgic about little boys swinging away!!!
ReplyDeleteAw! Moose is just too cute. Give him a great big pug hug from Eema and Loocie.

Oh my goodness! That is hilarious! I say seed the woods. Winter is a long season and it'll keep him busy.
ReplyDeleteSeed the woods and give them back at the beginning of next season. What will the league do with them in the off-season, anyway?
